Iran’s national futsal team delivered a commanding performance in their opening match of the AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, Group G, dismantling Bangladesh 12-0 at SUKPA Indoor Stadium, Kuantan.
Head coach Vahid Shamsaei fielded a starting lineup of Mehdi Rostamiha, Amirhossein Gholami, Mohammad Hossein Bazyar, Hossein Tayebi, and Mehdi Karimi. Despite striking the crossbar and launching several early attacks, it took Iran nearly eight minutes to find the breakthrough.
The opener came from Hossein Sabzi (No. 4), who smashed home an unstoppable strike to unlock Bangladesh’s defense and set the tone for the night.
Iran then ran rampant as Hossein Tayebi (2 goals), Mohammad Hossein Bazyar, Masoud Yousef, and Behrooz Azimi extended the lead, making it 6-0 at halftime.
The second half saw multiple substitutions, but Iran’s attacking intensity never faded. Bazyar added another before Ali Khalilvand and even goalkeeper Saeid Momeni got on the scoresheet with thunderous efforts.
More goals from Tayebi, Karimi, and Gholami completed the rout, sealing a comprehensive 12-0 victory that highlighted Iran’s superiority and attacking depth.
Iran will now shift focus to their next group stage clash against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday again.
