Johor Darul Ta’Zim is back to the leader of the table after beating Selangor FC with a score of 5-1in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
As soon as the first half started, JDT scored early in the third minute after a quick action by Fernando Forestieri who took a free kick pushed the ball to Bergson Da Silva who then shot the ball hard from outside the penalty box right into the right corner of the goal and beat the goalkeeper, Khairulazhan Khalid.
Shocked by the early goal, protege Michael Feichtenbeiner tried to find space to organize the attack but failed to break through the powerful fortifications controlled by three hosts, Shane Lowry, Shahrul Saad and Matthew Davies.
The hosts punished the Red Giants when they scored the second goal in the 25th minute after Forestieri’s free-kick from 25 meters went straight into the right corner of the net.
JDT apparently ignored Selangor FC’s big win over Sarawak United FC, recently instead adding to the suffering of Feichtenbeiner’s protege in the 35th minute after Afiq Fazail’s pass easily made Leandro Velazquez divert the ball right to the left corner of the goal to beat Khairulazhan.
Selangor FC almost created a goal in the last minute of the first half after Mukhairi Ajmal’s free kick hit captain Brendan Gan who jumped high to head the ball but goalkeeper Farizal Marlias quickly collapsed to deflect the ball.
Continuing the second half, the Southern Tigers squad dominated the game and Forestieri almost scored a personal second goal in the 51st minute when a free kick from 25 meters almost hit the net but this time Khairulazhan was ready to deflect the ball out.
It was unfortunate for Khairulazhan when he got the ball into his own net in the 54th minute due to Bergson’s powerful kick which really wanted to do a cross on the right wing position but the visitors’ goalkeeper failed to deflect the ball and saw JDT comfortable with a 4-0 score.
Finally, the visitors scored the first goal in the 82nd minute after the ball from Aliff Haiqal Lokman Hakim Lau’s lane opened the way for substitute Mohd Nor Hakim Hassan to infiltrate into the penalty box and shoot the ball past Farizal.
JDT clearly refused to be satisfied with the four goals produced instead ensuring a stylish victory in the last minute of the match after substitute Mahamadou Sumareh headed in Safawi Rasid’s cross.
