Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) delivered a devastating attacking display on Tuesday, crushing UM-Damansara 10-0 in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
The emphatic victory saw the Southern Tigers complete a commanding 14-1 aggregate triumph, confirming their place in the next round in style.
JDT named Christian Abad in goal, with experienced midfielder Natxo Insa wearing the captain’s armband, while Jairo da Silva spearheaded the attack.
For UM-Damansara, Azfar Arif started between the posts, with Eizrul Ashraf among the players expected to lead the visitors’ challenge.
The Southern Tigers made their intentions clear from the opening minutes and broke the deadlock in the sixth minute.
Eddy Israfilov rose highest to produce a powerful header, giving JDT an early advantage and setting the tone for another dominant performance.
JDT continued to pile on the pressure, with Bulgarian winger Stoichkov doubling the lead in the 22nd minute.
The home side showed no signs of slowing down and added a third goal through Stuart Wilkin in the 32nd minute.
That goal further strengthened JDT’s overall advantage, giving the Southern Tigers a six-goal cushion on aggregate at that stage of the tie.
UM-Damansara struggled to find a response as JDT continued to attack with intensity. The hosts created several dangerous opportunities as they kept the visitors pinned back.
Despite already holding a commanding advantage, JDT maintained their attacking momentum until the halftime whistle, heading into the break 3-0 ahead on the night.
Stoichkov found the net again to complete his brace before substitute Daniesh Amirruddin scored his first goal for JDT in the 59th minute.
Wilkin then added his second of the match in the 77th minute, further extending JDT’s already overwhelming advantage.
New attacking signing Shahab Zahedi also joined the scoring spree, underlining the depth and firepower available to the Southern Tigers.
JDT continued their relentless assault until the closing stages, with Israfilov, Daniesh Amirruddin and Zahedi adding further strikes to complete a remarkable 10-goal haul.
The final whistle confirmed a stunning 10-0 victory for JDT, with the Southern Tigers progressing with a 14-1 aggregate score.
