Malaysian pair shuttlers, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, stormed into the mixed doubles final of the 2025 BWF World Championships on Saturday at Adidas Arena, Paris.
The world No. 4 pair silenced the French crowd at the Adidas Arena by defeating home favourites Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue 21-18, 21-16 in the semi-finals.
The victory sets the stage for a potential Merdeka Day double celebration, with both Malaysian pairs now just one step away from delivering gold medals on Sunday.
However, a tough test awaits. Standing between Tang Jie–Ee Wei and the world crown are China’s world No. 2 Jiang Zhen Bang–Wei Ya Xin, who edged compatriots Guo Xin Wa–Chen Fang Hui 11-21, 23-21, 21-18 in the other semi-final.
As the nation prepares to mark its 68th National Day, Malaysian badminton fans will unite in hope that Tang Jie–Ee Wei — together with Pearly Tan–Thinaah — can turn this historic opportunity into a golden celebration on the sport’s biggest stage.
