Indonesia national team earned first point after tied Saudi Arabia national team scoring 1-1 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 3 Group C at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah.
The match started with Indonesia taking the lead in the 19th minute. Witan Sulaeman delivered a well-placed pass to Ragnar Oratmangoen, who struck a shot that deflected off Sandy Walsh and quickly nestled into the Saudi Arabian goal. VAR reviewed the goal, initially credited to Walsh, but ultimately awarded it to Oratmangoen, the FCV Dender striker from the Belgian League.
Saudi Arabia responded with several attempts to equalize, including a close miss by Mohammed Kanno in the 29th minute. Indonesia had a chance to extend their lead through Witan, but his shot was too weak to trouble goalkeeper Mohammed Al Owais.
Saudi Arabia managed to equalize just before halftime in the 45+8 minute when Musab Aljuwayr’s shot deflected off Calvin Verdonk, finding its way into the net.
The second half saw more drama as Saudi Arabia was awarded a penalty in the 77th minute after Indonesian goalkeeper Maarten Paes lost possession and brought down Feras Al Brikan. However, Paes redeemed himself by blocking Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s penalty, keeping the score level.
In stoppage time, Saudi Arabia nearly completed a comeback, but Paes saved a one-on-one attempt from Al Brikan, ensuring Indonesia left with a hard-fought point.
