Aniq Kasdan, a Malaysian weightlifter, narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in 4th place in the Men’s 61 Kg weightlifting event at the Olympic 2024, held at South Paris Arena 6, Paris.
Aniq is the sole weightlifter representing Malaysia at the 2024 Olympics.
Aniq began with a Snatch result of 126 kg in his first attempt, successfully lifted 130 kg on his third attempt after missing it on the second, securing a 3rd place finish in the Snatch category.
In the Clean & Jerk, Aniq successfully lifted 167 kg on his first attempt but failed to lift 174 kg in his subsequent two attempts. This brought his total to 297 kg, just 1 kg short of the bronze medal position, placing him 4th overall.
As a result, Li Fabin from China clinched the gold medal with a record total of 310 kg. Teerapong Silachai from Thailand secured the silver medal with a total of 303 kg, and Morris Hampton from the USA won the bronze medal with a total of 298 kg.
