Sabah FC, collect the first victory of the season after beating Kelantan Darul Naim scoring 3-2 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu.
The visiting team opened the curtain first through import, Gabriel Peres, who managed to penetrate the home defense to score Sabah’s first goal in the 25th minute.
KDN FC had the opportunity to equalize if VAR awarded a free kick following the visiting player’s roughness but Chadrack Muzungu wasted it in the 33rd minute.
Muzungu’s weak kick was easy to read by Khairul Fahmi Che Mat who was guarding the Sabah goal and allowed the visitors to lead 1-0 to end the first half.
Continuing the second half, KDN FC, coached by Park Jaehong, managed to score an equalizer with Kim Ri-Gwan’s header which killed Khairul Fahmi in the 55th minute.
The joy of the KDN didn’t last long when substitute Stuart Wilkin doubled the goal for Sabah with an attempt from outside the penalty box to give the team a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute.
Five minutes later, the confusion in front of the hosts’ goal was taken advantage of by Ramon Machado who rejected the ball easily for Sabah’s third goal.
VAR was once again needed to confirm Bae Kyeong Hwan’s header stemming from Oday Kharoub’s free kick for KDN FC’s second goal.
Even though they continued to launch attacks at the end of the game, KDN FC’s efforts to at least equalise the score were unsuccessful and were forced to accept a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Sabah.
