Hannah Yeoh, Minister for Youth and Sports of Malaysia(KBS), issued a short-term moratorium to prevent any installation of stage structures involving concert preparations on the pitch at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
Hannah issued the moratorium following the post-mortem or investigation carried out by Perbadanan Stadium Malaysia (PSM) last Monday.
Previously, PSM once again received heavy criticism from various parties following the condition of the SNBJ field, which was not at the best level for the action against Oman last March 26 after the Ed Sheeran concert last February.
“PSM held a post-mortem on April 1 2024 to discuss the condition of the pitch at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) during the match between Malaysia and Oman in Group D of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup/2027 Asian Cup.” explained PSM.
“The meeting was chaired by Datuk Seri Windsor John, Member of the Board PSM Director.
“Following the post-mortem results, Minister for Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh issued a short-term moratorium to block anything installation of a stage structure that anchors the concert supplies on the grass so that the grass reaches a good condition.”
“This matter was announced to the concert organizers at a dialogue session between Ministers and organizer of last night’s concert. The dialogue also discussed steps that could be taken by PSM to provide more perfect facilities.”
“Organizers can still make reservations, but any noise from stage structures and towers is prohibited on the field. This is a step not to explain grass at SNBJ and ensure the grass is in optimum condition for upcoming football match,”
