Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), today officially confirmed that the first match of the FIFA World Cup 2026/AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, Round 2 Group D between Malaysia vs Kyrgyz Republic on Thursday, 16 November 2023 will remain played at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, at 9.00 pm.
The decision was made after an inspection and evaluation session of the latest state of the field at the stadium last Thursday (November 2, 2023) which was also attended by FAM President, Datuk Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin; Youth and Sports Minister, YB Hannah Yeoh; Chairman of the Malaysia Stadium Corporation (PSM), Dato’ Hans Isaac and national head coach, Kim Pan Gon.
The PSM, through the views and advice of its technical consultants and contractors, has stated that the field is now in a better condition than during the Merdeka Festival last month and is ready for use on 16 November 2023.
With this latest confirmation, all preparations ahead of the match will continue to be intensified to ensure its smoothness.
