Tomislav Steinbruckner, admits that his men are now in the best momentum to pull off a surprise win over Central Coast Mariners, a club from Australia in the first match of Group G of the AFC Cup 2023/24 Group stage Group G, tomorrow night.
Tomi explained that his team’s best performance without losing since more than three months ago had also contributed to their enthusiasm for chasing their first points against last season’s Australian League runners-up.
“Our last match was lost to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) on June 9, which is more than three months ago, and I am proud, this is a good momentum for our team and the players’ confidence is at a high level,” Tomi said at a pre-match press conference ahead of the meeting at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak, today.
“We have a good challenge in every match and our team will try to play their best over 100% against a very good opponent team.”
“I watched the game in the Australian League, that team (Central Coast Mariners) was a very good team, looked strong and they played very easily, but if you ask about the ‘set piece’ of the game, it was part of our game.
“We will see how willing the players are to fight with them in the ball possession element, but I remind the players they also need to be alert,”
