Malaysia U23 national team kept winning 2 matches consecutive after beating Philippines U23 national team with a score of 4-0 in the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2024 Qualifiers Group H at Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi.
Malaysia started fiercely when it only took 27 seconds to open the net curtain for the captain, Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi, who finished Fergus Tierney’s pass.
Before the Philippines had time to calm down, E Elavarasan’s men added a second goal five minutes later when Luqman Hakim Shamsudin’s cross into the penalty box was also perfected by T Saravanan.
Defensive pillar Harith Haiqal put the country’s squad at ease when his swift shot from outside the penalty box beat Philippines goalkeeper Dimitri Macapagal for the third time in the 23rd minute.
The country’s squad, which faced a tougher challenge than the Philippines in the second half, however managed to add a fourth goal through Saravanan in the 62nd minute, thus completing Harimau Malaya B-23’s style victory.
The win saw Elavarasan’s men record clean wins in their first two qualifying matches after beating Bangladesh 2-0 in their opening match last Wednesday.
The country’s squad will make a calculation with hosts Thailand on 12 September with the final action of Group H being the determination of the group winner.
