If you thought Marco Bezzecchi peaked during the pre-season tests, think again! The Italian superstar has officially turned the Chang International Circuit into his personal playground, obliterating the all-time lap record during a chaotic, rain-threatened Practice session for the 2026 PT Grand Prix of Thailand.
Clocking a mind-bending 1:28.526, “Bez” didn’t just take P1—he sent a terrifying message to the rest of the grid: The Aprilia revolution is real, and it is lightning fast.
The session was a high-stakes psychological thriller. With dark clouds looming and the Red Cross flags (signaling rain) waving midway through, the paddock descended into “Time Attack” madness. Every rider knew that a spot in Q2 was on the line before the heavens opened.
Rookie sensation Ai Ogura pushed the limits a little too far, sliding out at Turn 7 in the closing stages. Despite the tumble, the Japanese rider’s pace was enough to hold onto a Q2 spot.
Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marc Marquez both took turns at the top, but they were merely keeping the seat warm for the #72 Aprilia.
In the final 75 seconds, Bezzecchi went into “Beast Mode.” Clocking a top speed of 341.7 km/h, he danced through the final sector to shave even more time off the record he set just seven days ago during testing.
While Bezzecchi holds the headlines, don’t count out last year’s king of Buriram. Marc Marquez finished P2, and while the gap is nearly half a second, the Spaniard’s race pace remains the gold standard.
