Selangor FC has taken a drastic step today by announcing the official suspension of its hardcore supporters’ group, UltraSel, from attending any club matches for three consecutive games.
This decision follows the “heated” incident involving the lighting of flares and public disturbance at the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge, just ahead of the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 clash against Terengganu FC on February 1st.
What was supposed to be a parade of spirit turned into a nightmare for the club’s image:
- Extreme Provocation: A group of supporters was spotted lighting flares atop Terengganu’s iconic landmark, causing significant traffic disruptions.
- Police Crackdown: A total of 33 individuals were remanded, with reports confirming that 21 tested positive for THC (cannabis), including university and secondary school students.
- Royal Rebuke: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, acting as the Royal Patron, expressed deep disappointment and strongly condemned any culture of gangsterism within the sport.
In an official statement, Selangor FC emphasized that they will not compromise with any party that tarnishes the reputation of the state and the club.
“The club is taking this action in line with the decree of the Sultan of Selangor and the advice of Club Chairman, Tengku Amir Shah. We demand a positive supporter culture, not a threat to public safety,” the statement read.
Key details of the disciplinary action include:
- Ultra Selangor Ban: A suspension effective from February 8 to 22, 2026, covering the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals against Negeri Sembilan FC and the Super League match against Kuching City FC.
- Three-Year Blacklist: Any individual convicted of drug-related offenses will be barred from entering stadiums for any Selangor FC matches for a period of 3 years.
