Malaysia’s women’s basketball team booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2025 SEA Games in emphatic fashion after crushing Singapore 70–34 in their second group match at Nimibutr Stadium, Bangkok.
Needing a strong response after their opening fixture, the Malaysians delivered a commanding all-round performance, taking control from the opening tip and never looking back.
Malaysia wasted no time asserting their dominance, racing to a 20–8 lead in the first quarter through sharp ball movement, aggressive defense, and clinical finishing.
The pressure intensified in the second quarter as Malaysia continued to dictate the tempo, outscoring Singapore 18–7 to go into halftime with a commanding 38–15 advantage.
Singapore struggled to cope with Malaysia’s relentless full-court pressure after the break. The Malaysians extended their lead to 58–28 by the end of the third quarter, suffocating their opponents and forcing turnovers that translated into easy points.
Malaysia maintained their focus in the final period, closing out the contest in style to seal a convincing 36-point victory.
The win marks Malaysia’s second victory of the group stage, ensuring qualification for the quarter-finals and injecting confidence into the squad as they look ahead to the knockout rounds.
