Malaysia moved one giant step closer to reclaiming regional supremacy after delivering a commanding 3–1 victory over Thailand in the SEA Games 2025 Badminton Men’s Team Semifinals at Gymnasium 4 of Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, Pathum Thani.
From explosive doubles play to clinical singles execution, the Harimau Badminton squad showcased depth, discipline, and big-match temperament to seal their place in the gold-medal match.
Match 1: Men’s Singles (1)
Leong Jun Hao (MAS) lost to Kunlavut Vitidsarn (THA) 0-2 (15–21, 15–21)
Malaysia started on the back foot as Thai ace and world-class shuttler Kunlavut Vitidsarn asserted his dominance. Leong Jun Hao fought valiantly but could not break Kunlavut’s tight control and precision. Thailand took a 1–0 lead.
Match 2: Men’s Doubles (1)
Aaron Chia / Soh Wooi Yik (MAS) win Supak Jomkoh / Peeratchai Sukphun (THA) 2-0 (21–18, 21–19)
Malaysia’s Olympic champions leveled the tie in trademark style. Aaron–Wooi Yik unleashed explosive power at the net and midcourt, closing out both games with calculated aggression at crucial points. Score tied 1–1 — momentum shifting.
Match 3: Men’s Singles (2)
Justin Hoh (MAS) win Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul (THA) 2-0 (21–10, 21–17)
Rising star Justin Hoh delivered one of the strongest performances of the night. Dominant in the first game and composed in the second, he outplayed Panitchaphon with superior court coverage and crisp shot-making, pushing Malaysia ahead 2–1.
Match 4: Men’s Doubles (2)
Man Wei Chong / Tee Kai Wun (MAS) win Dechapol Puavaranukroh / Pakkapon Teeraratsakul (THA) 2-1 (21–14, 18–21, 21–17)
Under immense pressure, Malaysia’s second doubles pair rose to the occasion.
Man Wei Chong–Tee Kai Wun took the opening game sharply, stumbled in the second, but delivered a heroic decider filled with tight rotations and decisive counterattacks.
Their victory sealed the semifinal at 3–1, sending Malaysia into the SEA Games final.
