Colonel Chaipak Siriwat, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand (NOCT), announced today that all sports originally scheduled to be held in Songkhla will now be fully relocated to Bangkok.
The decision was made due to widespread flooding that has severely affected roads, transportation routes, and public infrastructure — with no signs of stabilising in the short term.
A total of 10 sports scheduled in Songkhla will now move to Thailand’s capital such as Men’s Football (Group Stage, Group B), Judo, Kabaddi, Chess, Pencak Silat, Karate, Wrestling, Wushu, Petanque, and Muay.
Chaipak emphasised that safety, accessibility, and operational readiness were the committee’s top priorities.
Although the move to Bangkok is confirmed, the final venue assignments for each of the ten sports will be announced tomorrow.
He added that the organising team is already coordinating with Bangkok facilities to ensure smooth adjustments in scheduling, logistics, and athlete movement.
