Malaysia women’s futsal national team take a bronze medal after tied Myanmar with a score of 3-3 in the Women’s Futsal at SEA Games 2021 at Ha Nam Gymnasium, Ha Nam.
Malaysia displayed a high fighting spirit when they bounced back from a two-goal deficit which brushed aside various criticisms leveled against this team.
Team captain, Intan Sarah Anisah Zulgafli did not wait long to open the scoring after her push after receiving a pass from Nur Syafiqah Zainal Abidin in the second minute managed to beat Myanmar goalkeeper, Nwe Nwe Soe.
Shocked by the early goal, Myanmar returned to improve the action and managed to equalize seven minutes later through May Thet Paing who intercepted a pass tried by Hanani Adriana and then fired a shot past the national squad’s goal.
Myanmar then made the national squad more stressed when they added two more goals to strengthen their position following the dead ball situation through Nant May Thazin and Yun Me Me Lwin.
Getting a useful tonic in the dressing room, the national players performed better and their efforts paid off in the 23rd minute when Intan Sarah blasted a shot outside area D to close the goal deficit.
With only two minutes left to finish the action, Siti Asnidah Zamri emerged as the hero of the national squad after a quiz was done as a result of Nur Shazreen Munazli’s pass and managed to deceive Nwe Seo for a 3-3 tie.
The result remained until the end of the game both teams tied at 3-3.
The result of the draw was enough for Jamhuri Zainuddin’s squad to have a goal advantage over the opponent, thus repeating the same achievement achieved by the national squad during the 2013 edition.
