Sabah FC has officially confirmed the appointment of former Malaysia U23 mastermind Juan Torres Garrido as their new Head Coach.
Following a period of uncertainty since Jean-Paul de Marigny’s exit in December, the Sabah management has gone for “tactical gold,” snatching up a man who knows the DNA of Malaysian football inside out.
There’s no “grace period” for the Spaniard. Juan Torres is set to dive straight into the deep end, taking charge of his first official match this Saturday against Negeri Sembilan FC at the Likas Stadium.
Interim boss Alto Linus, who held the fort during a turbulent transition, will slide back into his position as Assistant Head Coach, providing Juan Torres with the local intel needed to steady the ship.
Sabah FC Manager Mohd Arziz Afizy highlighted two massive reasons why the Spaniard was the #1 choice:
“We believe his presence will bring positive changes,” Arziz stated. “Our focus is clear: improve our league standing and hunt down a spot in the MFL Challenge Cup Final!“
