Thai striking superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon has officially confirmed that his contract with ONE Championship has come to an end, sparking intrigue over his next move—while simultaneously setting the stage for a massive upcoming showdown.
The fan-favourite revealed that he is currently in discussions over a potential new deal but emphasized that there are no underlying issues with the promotion.
“I want to clarify that I have no problems at all. My previous contract with ONE Championship has expired, and right now we are negotiating and reviewing the terms of a new agreement,” Rodtang stated.
Despite the contract situation, Rodtang confirmed that his highly anticipated clash with Japanese icon Takeru Segawa will go ahead as planned—operating outside his current contractual framework.
The bout is scheduled for April 29 at the ONE Samurai, with an interim ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title (135 lbs) on the line.
“The fight with Takeru will be a special bout outside my contract. I’m fully prepared and ready for this fight.”
This matchup has long been considered a dream clash in global striking, pitting Rodtang’s relentless Muay Thai aggression against Takeru’s explosive kickboxing pedigree.
Rodtang also took time to thank fans for their unwavering support, reinforcing his commitment to deliver a performance worthy of the occasion.
“Thank you to everyone who has always supported me and shown me love. I will give my all for what we love.”
