Monster Energy Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo is confident that his team has made substantial progress in mindset and machinery, setting the stage for a more competitive showing in the upcoming MotoGP 2025.
The Japanese outfit, once a dominant force, has endured two winless seasons, falling short of competing in the top group since Quartararo’s title-winning campaign in 2022. However, Quartararo believes Yamaha is on the brink of turning things around with significant changes on and off the track.
“At the beginning of this season, I really wanted a faster machine, and we’ve made some upgrades. For me, it was very important to strengthen the machine, as well as our mentality,” said Quartararo.
The 25-year-old Frenchman highlighted that the team has undergone a major transformation in its approach. Adjustments in key areas, including electronic systems and overall engineering, have given the team a renewed sense of purpose and direction.
“I think the old mentality within Yamaha has already changed, and we are only focused on next season,” Quartararo added.
One of Yamaha’s most anticipated developments is the introduction of a new, more powerful engine for the 2025 season. The upgrade is expected to address the power deficits that have plagued the team, allowing it to challenge the likes of Ducati and KTM at the front of the grid.
Adding to the optimism, Yamaha will expand its presence on the grid by partnering with Pramac Racing, which will field two additional Yamaha bikes as part of a satellite team. Quartararo believes the extra machines will further enhance development and provide valuable data to improve performance.
Quartararo has already noticed positive impacts from Yamaha’s ongoing changes. “I know we’ve just made changes this year, but they will continue next year. I already feel we can compete because these changes have had a positive impact on the team,” he said.
The combination of technical upgrades, expanded resources, and a rejuvenated team mentality gives Quartararo hope that Yamaha can once again emerge as title contenders.
The MotoGP paddock is eagerly watching Yamaha’s progress as the team works tirelessly to regain its competitive edge. For Quartararo, the shift in mentality and technical upgrades are clear indicators that brighter days are ahead.
