Malaysia’s men’s doubles pair, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi, ended the campaign on to the Quarter-Final after defeating Japan pairs World champions in the PETRONAS Malaysia Open 2024 at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.
Despite putting up a spirited effort, Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were defeated in straight sets with scores of 15-21 and 9-21 in just 34 minutes. This marked the eighth loss for Yew Sin-Ee Yi against Hoki-Kobayashi out of ten meetings on the international stage.
Hoki-Kobayashi’s confirmation of reaching the semi-finals sets up an exciting matchup against the world No.1 team from China, Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang. Fans can anticipate an intense competition as these top pairs vie for a spot in the final stage of the tournament.
