Malaysia’s Mixed doubles, Goh Soon Huat-Lai Shevon Jemie, clinched the championship in the PERODUA Malaysia Masters 2024 at Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur.
Soon Huat-Shevon, put on a stunning performance to overcome Indonesia’s rival, Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, 21-18, 21-19 in the final action in 47 minutes.
The decision allowed the pair ranked 18th in the world to record their third consecutive win and sixth overall in seven meetings over opponents ranked 15th in the world.
Soon Huat-Shevon’s success also saw them end the wait for the country’s mixed team representatives to win the Malaysian Masters since they were last won by Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing in 2017.
For the record, this is Soon Huat-Shevon’s second title this season after winning the Swiss Open last March.
