Selangor FC turned into a fortress of goals on Saturday night, ruthlessly dispatching Negeri Sembilan FC 5-1 to march into the Piala Malaysia 2025/26 semi-finals at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
From the first whistle to the last, the Red Giants displayed the clinical edge of a team destined for silverware, leaving “Sang Rusa” chasing shadows in a tactical masterclass.
Captain Faisal Halim set the tone before many fans had even found their seats. Exploiting a sluggish Negeri Sembilan defense, the diminutive winger pounced on a mistake to fire home the opener within the first minute.
While Takumi Sasaki tried to rally the visitors with a thunderous free kick that ultimately cleared the crossbar, Selangor’s frontline was simply operating on a different level.
The floodgates didn’t just open; they burst. In the 24th Minute Alvin Fortes showed why he’s the main man, turning home a pinpoint Chrigor Moraes cross, Selangor led 2-0.
Just 6 minutes later, Nooa Laine sent the home crowd into a frenzy with a “screamer” from outside the box, leaving Aqil Razak helpless. Selangor continues leading 3-0.
And before the end of the first half, in the 45+2 minutes, Quentin Cheng joined the party, slotting home a fourth just before the break to effectively kill the tie. Selangor led 4-0.
The second half saw no let-up in intensity. Chrigor Moraes, after providing an assist earlier, got his deserved goal in the 66th minute with a finish of pure quality.
Negeri Sembilan finally found the scoresheet in the 73rd minute when Jovan Motika converted a penalty following a foul by Zikri Khalili, but it was far too little, too late.
The 6-1 aggregate scoreline sets up a mouth-watering semi-final clash: Selangor FC vs. Kuching City. With the Red Giants in this kind of form, the dream of a 34th Malaysia Cup title is looking more like a reality.
