Selangor FC has eliminated after tied with Terengganu FC with a score of 1-1 in the Piala Malaysia 2023 Quarter-Final second leg at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
Selangor came down with a mission to rise up to extinguish Terengganu’s advantage by attacking the opponent’s camp with several moves and attempts from the start of the game, but failed to get a goal.
On the other hand, Terengganu managed to increase their advantage when Ivan Mamut completed a penalty kick in the 24th minute after Safuwan Baharudin brought down Nor Hakim Hassan.
Safuwan, however, made amends for his mistake when he headed in Faisal Halim’s corner in the 69th minute to close the gap in aggregate.
However, this goal was not enough to save last season’s Malaysia Cup runners-up from being knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Terengganu FC, will go through the semi-finals against Kuala Lumpur City, who beat Sri Pahang 2-1 on aggregate.
