Johor Darul Ta’Zim has beautiful opening after beated Kelantan FC with a score of 5-1 in the Piala Malaysia 2023 round of 16 first leg at Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium, Kota Bharu.
In that match, Bergson Da Silva broke the deadlock when he scored JDT’s first goal in the seventh minute.
Eight minutes later, the fragility of the host’s defense continued when Heberty Fernandes added JDT’s second goal.
Fernandes continued to show his finishing skills when he scored JDT’s third goal in the 24th minute to add to his second personal goal collection in the match.
Stunned by three early goals from the visitors, Kelantan FC tried to get up, but the attack made by Kelantan FC was easily broken by the JDT defence and the result remained 0-3 until the end of the first period.
Continuing the second half, JDT continued to add to the host’s suffering with the fourth goal in the 50th minute through Shahrul Saad’s header. Saad from teammate Juan Muniz’s corner kick.
Muhammad Nazmi Faiz Mansor completed JDT’s glorious night with the fifth goal in the 67th minute.
However, Kelantan FC scored a consolation goal in the 86th minute through Khala’if Naskam and the result remained until the end of the match.
Johor Darul Ta’Zim will play as a home team in the second match on 19 August, at 9.00 pm at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
