Terengganu FC II clinched the title in this tournament after slashing Johor Darul Ta’Zim II, scoring 1-0 in the Piala MFL 2023 Final at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
In action, Terengganu FC II started fiercely when they launched two attempts in the first two minutes – first through Syahmi Zamri’s shot which went astray, followed by Mintah’s header, which was saved by Zulhilmi Sharani.
Entering 15 minutes of the match, JDT II started to get a rhythm and launched several attempts but it was not enough to challenge the goal controlled by Nazul Izamil Zulkifli.
Both teams struggled to find the opening goal and the first half ended 0-0.
Continuing the second half, Terengganu FC II missed the chance to score the first goal when Muslihuddin ‘Atiq, who was in the best position in front of the goal, shot too high over the goal bar.
JDT II also had a chance but Shane Lowry’s header hit Nazul Izamil in the 54th minute before Syahmi’s attempt in the 64th minute also missed the left side of the JDT II goal.
Nazul Izamil managed to save Terengganu FC II from conceding in the 80th minute when he deflected Arribas’ free kick.
Ahmad Aysar Hadi Mohd Shapri’s mistake failed to hold the ball neatly in the 87th minute, and Muhammad Isa made a long shot to beat Zulhilmi for Terengganu FC II’s winning goal.
