Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) made history by securing their third consecutive Piala FA Malaysia title after a commanding 6-1 victory over Selangor FC in the 2024/25 final at Bukit Jalil National Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
JDT started the match with an aggressive attacking approach, but Selangor nearly took the lead in the 20th minute with a long-range shot from Ronnie Fernandez that narrowly missed the target.
In the 26th minute, JDT’s Juan Muniz opened the scoring with a stunning long-range free-kick that found the top corner, putting JDT ahead 1-0. The Southern Tigers continued to dominate, and just before halftime, Arif Aiman capitalized on a fast break, doubling JDT’s lead with a clinical finish in the 42nd minute. The first half ended with JDT leading 2-0.
Selangor pulled one back in the 58th minute when Alvin Fortes scored from outside the box with a powerful shot that found the far post, reducing the deficit to 2-1. However, JDT quickly responded in the 62nd minute when Bergson Da Silva finished off a pass from Heberty Fernandes, restoring their two-goal advantage at 3-1.
JDT continued to dominate, and in the 67th minute, Bergson assisted Juan Muniz for his second goal of the match, making it 4-1. Heberty Fernandes then added his name to the scoresheet in the 76th minute, extending JDT’s lead to 5-1.
In the 89th minute, Muniz completed his hat-trick with another sensational free-kick from outside the box, sealing a 6-1 victory for JDT.
With this victory, JDT claimed their third consecutive Piala FA title.
