Malaysia head coach Peter Cklamovski has set his sights on maintaining the national team’s unbeaten record throughout 2025, following their emphatic 5-1 victory over Laos in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, the Australian tactician revealed that his immediate goal is for Harimau Malaya to close out the year undefeated and carry that momentum into their next qualifier against Nepal in November.
Since taking charge earlier this year, Cklamovski has led Malaysia to seven consecutive unbeaten matches, including an impressive 1-1 draw against Cape Verde and a historic win over Palestine in September.
“Right now, we’re leading the group, and that’s something we embrace and are proud of. It’s exciting to see how far the team has come,” said Cklamovski.
“The players will now return to their clubs, and I’ve encouraged them to keep working hard and performing well because we have another tough match coming up against Nepal.
“The three points are important for us to secure, and we want to remain unbeaten for the entire year of 2025,” he added.
Since his appointment in early 2025, Cklamovski has introduced a modern, high-pressing and possession-based style, earning praise for transforming Malaysia’s tactical discipline and mental resilience.
Under his leadership, Malaysia have not only remained unbeaten but have also shown attacking flair, with key players like Faisal Halim, Romel Morales, and Paulo Josue finding form at crucial moments.
Their 5-1 triumph over Laos solidified Malaysia’s position at the top of Group F with 12 points, keeping them well on track to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup 2027.
Malaysia will resume their qualifying campaign against Nepal in November — a fixture that Cklamovski views as both a test of consistency and character.
With momentum on their side and growing national optimism, Harimau Malaya will look to extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches, further cementing their resurgence as one of Southeast Asia’s most improved national teams.
