Peter Cklamovski, the newly appointed head coach of Harimau Malaya, revealed today that the unwavering passion and vision of the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ), Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, played a pivotal role in his decision to accept the prestigious position.
The 46-year-old Australian, known for his tactical expertise and meticulous approach, expressed his deep respect for TMJ’s relentless drive to elevate Malaysian football. As the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) and a central figure in shaping the nation’s footballing landscape, TMJ’s commitment to the sport resonated with Cklamovski and solidified his resolve to lead the national team.
Cklamovski, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to begin his tenure, was officially introduced at a high-profile event marking the launch of the new Harimau Malaya jerseys. The occasion also celebrated a landmark partnership between the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and international sports brand PUMA.
“Without His Majesty’s enthusiasm, insight, determination, and vision in this project, it would not be what it is today,” said Cklamovski in an interview with Astro Arena journalist Zulhelmi Zainal Azam.
He added, “For me, seeing his passion and determination made it an easy decision. It’s an honour to represent him and contribute to this mission of driving success for Malaysian football.”
