Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) confirm via an official statement for the termination of Park Hang-Seo, South Korean head coach after the end of AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022 by agreement on the termination of the contract between the two parties on January 31, 2023.
During his tenure as the head coach of the Vietnam national team from October 2017, Park Hang-Seo and Vietnamese football have achieved many outstanding historical achievements and are highly appreciated in Asian football.
That is the achievement that led the U23 Vietnam team to win the runner-up position at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship – Changzhou, fourth at the 2018 Asian Games, winning the Ball Gold medal twice in a row. men’s football (at SEA Games 30 in 2019 and SEA Games 31 in 2021); Leading the Vietnamese national team to win the AFF Suzuki Cup 2018, reaching the quarterfinals of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 and especially the first time in history to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2022 Asian Qualifiers third round.
Under the guidance of Coach Park Hang Seo, Vietnam has maintained its position as the leading country in Southeast Asia, and is also the Southeast Asian country that holds the position for the longest time in FIFA’s top 100.

Regardless of the results, I can still fulfill my duties and responsibilities well thanks to the continuous support and support from the players, leaders, and staff of the VFF as well as the people of Vietnam. This has been a memorable and enjoyable journey as well.” Park Hang-Seo said in an official statement.
“I understand the love and support given to me during my time in Vietnam. Although I leave this position, I will continue to work hard to repay your support in the near future. Once again, I would like to thank all of the love that Vietnam has given me. When appointed in 2017, my desire was to act as a bridge to cement the relationship between Vietnam and South Korea in all aspects of life, including football. I continue to carry out that mission and play a role in maintaining and strengthening the good friendship between the two countries Vietnam – Korea.”
