In a night packed with drama and legacy-defining moments, Japan’s kickboxing icon Takeru Segawa delivered a stunning knockout victory over Thailand’s Rodtang Jitmuangnon to capture the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE Samurai 1.
Held at the electric Ariake Arena on April 29, the historic event lived up to its billing—headlined by a fierce rematch that saw Takeru exact revenge in emphatic fashion before closing the curtain on his illustrious career.
After a cautious opening round, the fight exploded in Round 2 when Rodtang pushed forward aggressively, inviting a firefight.
Takeru seized the moment—countering with precision punches that sent the Thai superstar to the canvas twice in quick succession.
Rodtang, known for his relentless pressure, tried to claw his way back into the contest, but struggled to break through the composed and clinical Japanese striker.
The decisive moment came in Round 5. Takeru unleashed a relentless barrage of punches, dropping Rodtang for a third time before finishing the job with a fourth knockdown—forcing the referee to wave off the contest via TKO.
The victory crowned Takeru as the interim world champion and marked a fairytale ending to his career on home soil.
The Japanese superstar not only avenged a past defeat but did so in front of his home crowd, earning a massive 15 million yen(RM 3.7M) performance bonus in the process.
