It was a tough night at the office for Malaysia’s Wan Muhammad Sabri as he fell to a devastating third-round knockout against Japan’s Ramu Araya at ONE Friday Fights 141.
The Flyweight Muay Thai clash, held at the historic Lumpinee Stadium, saw the Japanese technician maintain his composure before delivering a finishing blow that silenced the Malaysian corner.
The bout began as a tactical affair, with Sabri attempting to use his reach and explosive bursts to keep Araya at bay. While the Malaysian showed flashes of aggression in the early rounds, Araya remained unfazed, absorbing the pressure and systematically breaking down Sabri’s defenses with sharp counters.
The turning point came early in the third round. As Sabri pushed forward to gain an advantage on the scorecards, Araya found a perfectly timed opening. A thunderous strike connected cleanly, sending the Malaysian to the canvas. Despite his best efforts to recover, the referee waved off the contest at the 1:17 mark of Round 3, awarding Araya the definitive KO victory.
For Wan Muhammad Sabri, the loss serves as a steep learning curve on the global stage of ONE Championship. Known for his heart and durability, Sabri will look to head back to the drawing board to tighten his defensive guard against the elite-level strikers of the 125–135 lbs division.
