ONE Championship has officially canceled its ONE Friday Fights 102 event following a powerful earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on Friday afternoon.
The event was originally scheduled to take place at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a statement released on social media, ONE Championship expressed deep regret over the cancellation:
“We regret to inform you that due to the recent earthquake in Myanmar and its effects on Bangkok, tonight’s ONE Friday Fights 102 has been canceled. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.”
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar, at a shallow depth. A 6.4-magnitude aftershock followed shortly after, compounding the devastation.
In Bangkok, the earthquake triggered the collapse of a 30-storey building under construction, trapping 43 workers, according to police and medical officials. Emergency responders are currently conducting rescue operations at the site.
The decision to cancel ONE Friday Fights 102 underscores the promotion’s commitment to athlete and spectator safety amid natural disasters. The organization is expected to provide further updates on rescheduling and fighter matchups in the coming days.
