Mohammad Abualnadi, defender of Jordan U23 national team was officially announced to join Selangor FC to compete in the Liga Super Malaysia season 2024/2025 season, just before the transfer window deadline.
The 23-year-old, who also holds American citizenship, brings a wealth of international and domestic experience to bolster the Red Giants’ backline.
Abualnadi began his career at 18 with Kansas Academy, eventually making a name for himself in the United States. He spent five seasons playing in various American leagues, including appearances in the US Open Cup with Sporting Kansas City’s main squad, MLS Next Pro, and the USL Championship with Sporting Kansas City II. During his time in the U.S., he played in 11 matches as a youth player, showcasing his potential as a promising defender before moving to Jordan to join Al-Hussein SC.
Born in 2001, Abualnadi has become a key player for Jordan’s national youth teams. He has represented his country at the U23 level, with notable performances in the West Asian Football Federation U23 Championship, where he scored two goals in four appearances, and the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qualifying Round, where he made three appearances and scored one goal. His impressive displays earned him a call-up to Jordan’s senior squad in July 2024, where he made his debut in an international friendly against North Korea in August.
Abualnadi’s growing stature in international football saw him listed in Jordan’s recent third-round 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Kuwait and Palestine. Standing at 188cm, his physical presence and technical ability make him a valuable asset on the left side, both as a defender and winger.
The young defender, who will don the number 3 jersey, expressed his excitement at joining Selangor FC:
“Joining Selangor FC is an incredibly exciting moment for me. The club’s storied history and passionate fanbase have always inspired me, and now I’m honoured to be part of this team. When the opportunity came through to my agent, I immediately felt that this was the right place for me. I am committed to giving my best for the team. I understand the expectations that come with this jersey and am ready to support my teammates in achieving our goals.”
Selangor FC head coach Nidzam Jamil also expressed confidence in Abualnadi’s abilities, highlighting his potential to enhance both the defensive and offensive dynamics of the team:
“As a coach, I believe that he will be a valuable asset for the team as a defender and winger on the left side. I also see his potential to strengthen the dynamics of the defensive line, especially in the ACL Two 2024/25 campaign.”
With the acquisition of Abualnadi, Selangor FC aims to solidify its defense and offensive strategy as the team embarks on its 2024/25 Liga Super Malaysia and AFC Champions League Two campaigns.
