Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor state, said he represented the entire state government administration in upholding Sultan Sharafudin’s wrathful decree against the MFL regarding the punishment imposed on the Selangor FC.
“The criminal violence that happened against the pillar of the state’s football, Faisal Halim, is a black spot in the history of the country’s football.” MB Selangor said in statement.
“As the governing body of the football league, the MFL should play a role in upholding justice, fighting terrorism and being empathetic towards the plight and safety of the country’s football players who are treated cruelly by heartless parties who act as cowards.”
“The order of the Sultan of Selangor was issued after the action of the MFL, which not only imposed a fine of RM100,000 on the Selangor FC team but added to the punishment by forcing matches in Selangor to be played without spectators,”
He said that the MFL’s action added to Selangor FC’s burden by imposing a fine of three points at a time when the JDT team had already received a free victory in the Piala Sumbangsih 2024/25.
“This unprecedented action which has caused anger and frustration among supporters should be a signal to the MFL that their decision was made without any sense of responsibility,”
Therefore, he said, taking the instructions and guidance of the Sultan of Selangor, he had discussed with the Chairman of the Selangor Sports Standing Committee and the state government agreed to launch a joint effort to provide opportunities for all parties, including Merah Kuning fans, to raise funds to pay the fine imposed by the MFL.
“Further information on this effort will be shared in the near future by the Selangor State Sports Council and the Chairman of the Selangor Sports Standing Committee (Mohd Najwan Halili).
“In order to mobilize this solidarity effort, the State Councilor and I will also contribute to the effort to collect funds and pay the fine next week as a commitment to uphold justice for Selangor FC,”
