Terengganu FC secured an important 3 points on the road after a thrilling 2-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur City in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
Both teams entered the seventh match with a strong desire to win in order to strengthen their positions in the league. The match was intense, with both sides responding to each other’s attacks. In the final 15 minutes, extended by injury time due to a temporary blackout, both teams aggressively sought to break the deadlock but couldn’t capitalize on their chances.
Just before the referee, Tuan Mohd Yassin, blew the final whistle for the first half, Terengganu’s Manuel Ott scored the opening goal with a perfectly timed header from a beautiful cross by Azam Azmi, putting the visitors ahead 1-0.
In the second half, KL City attempted to regroup and equalize, but Terengganu struck again. In the 69th minute, Terengganu’s captain, Safawi Rasid, showcased his skill with a stunning free-kick that beat KL City’s goalkeeper Azri Ghani, extending the lead to 2-0.
Despite KL City’s efforts to mount a comeback, they couldn’t find the net, and Terengganu held on to their lead until the final whistle. This victory marked Terengganu’s first away win in four Liga Super matches this season, giving them a crucial boost in their campaign.
