Selangor FC is back to a good performance after beating Penang FC scoring 4-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
The hosts made a swift start, opening the scoring in the third minute with a composed finish from midfielder Mukhairi Ajmal, assisted by Alvin Fortes.
Penang FC had their best chance in the 32nd minute, but Rodrigo Dias’ shot narrowly missed the target, leaving the score 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Penang’s attacking adjustments created a series of threatening moves. They were awarded a penalty in the 63rd minute after Nabil Latpi was fouled by Safuwan Baharudin. Rafael Vitor converted the spot-kick to level the game.
However, the tie was short-lived. Referee Ahmad Zuhadi, after consulting the VAR, awarded a penalty to Selangor for a foul on Ronnie Fernandez. Yohandry Orozco confidently converted the penalty in the 70th minute, restoring Selangor’s lead.
Late goals from Alvin Fortes and Quentin Cheng sealed the victory for Selangor FC, delighting the home fans. The match concluded with a 4-1 scoreline in favor of Selangor.
