Sarawak United under the control of new head coach S. Balachandran made a miracle and collected 3 points after slashing Melaka United with a score of 3-2 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Hang Jebat Stadium, Melaka.
In fact, being left behind twice never stopped the fire of Sarawak’s struggle until the final whistle through a dramatic rise to grab maximum points in the opponent’s court.
Melaka, , who came down with high determination to create a victory after just a 0-0 draw against Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) last week, saw them dominate the first half of the match.
However, two early attempts through team captain Sony Norde in the seventh minute and Adriano Narcizo in the 12th minute failed to break the deadlock.
Regardless, Melaka’s hunt for the lead finally came to fruition after Norde shot hard with a pass from Ifedayo Olusegun and beat goalkeeper Tauffiq Ar Rasyid Johar in the 17th minute.
But the goal did not last long after Sarawak managed to equalize in the 23rd minute thanks to a goal by Gonzolo Soto.
Surprised by the equalizer, the Green and White squad quickly scored the second goal through left defender, Syazwan Andik in the 34th minute after finishing the ball that was deflected by Tauffiq.
Continuing the second half, Sarawak were more aggressive to ensure that they did not return empty -handed by arranging interesting moves in their effort to equalize.
Finally, their effort managed to equalize through Francis Kone in the 60th minute to beat Melaka goalkeeper, Tian Keat See.
When the match seemed to end in a draw, Kone once again appeared to be the destroyer through his header at the time of injury thus allowing Sarawak to take home three points.
