Johor Darul Ta’Zim still unbeaten record in the league after tied with PJ City with a score of 2-2 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at MBPJ Stadium, Petaling Jaya.
JDT, who are also the defending champions of the Super League since 2014, dominated most of the first half of the match by displaying a simple style of play through short passes and managed to alarm PJ City’s fortress.
JDT’s best attempt came in the 12th minute when Nazmi Faiz Mansor’s fast shot hit the crossbar of PJ City’s goal which was controlled by Kalamullah Al-Hafiz Mat Rowi.
JDT finally broke the deadlock in the 48th minute when Bergson converted a penalty kick after the ball hit the hands of Filemon Anyie Standly.
PJ City, who was seen struggling to create opportunities, however, surprised the JDT camp when they managed to equalize through the finish of the national striker, Darren Lok as a result of Mahali Jasuli’s pass in the 73rd minute.
Akhyar Rashid cheered JDT back when he scored JDT’s second goal in the 86th minute, just about four minutes after he came on as a substitute.
JDT’s defensive lapses at the end of the match were punished by R Kogileswaran’s stoppage-time equalizer, thus allowing PJ City to grab a valuable point.
The result was also seen to slow down the JDT party in the Klang Valley after they clinched their second FA Cup title by beating Terengganu FC 3-1 at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, last Saturday.
However, the one point gained did not affect the JDT journey to hunt for the ninth championship this season with them now collecting 43 points, seven points ahead of the second-placed team, Sabah.
