Penang FC comeback to good performance after beating Kelantan Darul Naim scoring 3-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang.
Akmal Rizal Rakhli’s men opened their account as early as the 12th minute with Rodrigo Dias’ header, assisted by defender Fairuz Zakaria. This was a notable goal for the Brazilian-born striker, marking only his third goal of the season, with his last goal scored against PDRM FC on May 25.
Nik Akif Syahiran Nik Mat doubled Penang’s lead with a powerful shot in the 34th minute. There was a brief delay as the video assistant referee (VAR) review confirmed that Dias was not offside in the buildup to the goal, solidifying the 2-0 lead.
Penang FC’s dominance continued as they won a penalty after Fahrurrozi Suhirman brought down Izzat Zikri. The home captain, Rafael Vitor, converted the penalty in the 75th minute, securing the third goal. This goal was particularly meaningful for Vitor, who celebrated his 100th appearance for Penang with this strike.
