Penang FC take a first win match of the season after beating Terengganu FC with a score of 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Stadium Bandaraya, Pulau Pinang.
Penang FC stunned the visitors in the 23rd minute through a low shot by Hilal El-Helwe who made a pass on the right side of the goal for Faizat Ghazali before he himself completed it into the net.
More importantly, four players including Endrick Vitor and Fairuz Zakaria also joined hands to help produce the Lebanese -born import striker’s fifth personal goal in the Super League this season.
Entering 30 minutes of the match, Terengganu was still looking for an opportunity to score a goal with an accurate attempt that almost missed the home team’s goal.
Terengganu FC got a chance to equalize through a free kick after Harimau Kumbang center defender Rafael Vitor was shown a yellow card in the 39th minute.
However, Terengganu captain Tchetche Kipre’s attempt missed far past the home side’s goal post. The first half saw Penang FC’s two central defenders, Rafael Vitor and Khairul Akmal Rokisham work well enough to deny Terengganu’s relentless onslaught.
Terengganu equalized in the 48th minute after a counter-attack trapped Penang FC’s defense which saw Tchetche Kipre run the ball and then quickly make a short pass for his teammate, Faisal Halim to flick the ball into the net.
It didn’t take long, Penang FC scored the second goal through T Saravanan’s header in the 50th minute as a result of an early attempt from Hilal El-Helwe which was deflected towards the midfielder, thus confirming the victory of the Harimau Kumbang squad.
Praise should be given to Penang FC’s attacking machinery because it seems to be well-organized in arranging the style of play, especially in the front line, which seems to have gained new strength under the guidance of Zainal Abidin Hassan.
