Negeri Sembilan FC fought back from a goal down to earn their first win of the season, defeating Selangor FC 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi.
The Red Giants looked sharp from the start, testing the home side’s defence in the fourth minute when Chrigor Moraes forced a save from goalkeeper Azri Ghani. Their early pressure paid off in the 12th minute, when Richmond Ankrah rose highest to head home a corner from Nooa Laine, giving Selangor the lead.
Spurred on by a passionate home crowd, Negeri Sembilan responded by raising their tempo. Joseph Esso came close in the 20th minute, only to be denied by Selangor keeper Kalamullah Al-Hafiz Nat Rowi, who was also called into action to block a powerful free-kick from Harith Samsuri before halftime.
In the second half, Negeri Sembilan continued to push forward but struggled to find the breakthrough. Manager Mohd Nidzam Jamil made a bold move in the 70th minute, bringing on Mio Tsuneyasu for A. Selvan—a decision that proved decisive.
The Japanese import struck in the 82nd minute to level the score, sparking wild celebrations among the 25,550 fans in attendance. Deep into stoppage time (90+5’), Tsuneyasu produced another clinical finish to seal all three points for the hosts in dramatic fashion.
The comeback victory marked Negeri Sembilan’s first win of the 2025 season, while Selangor were left ruing missed chances despite their bright start.
