Kedah Darul Aman climbed up to 4th rank after beating Sabah FC with a score of 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
The hosts were first surprised by the Rhino’s early goal through imported player Gabriel Perez in the seventh minute after successfully going into the ball from a free kick taken by Baddrol Bakhtiar.
Kedah tried to get up to chase a goal two minutes later with an attempt by his imported striker, Willian Lira, but his attempt was lost on the bar.
Sabah, who was eager to carry out the attack, received a surprise when his imported player, Jailton Da Silva, who was seriously injured, had to be carried off the field and followed to the hospital after falling during a fight with Bojan Ciger.
Kedah, who continued to chase goals, finally managed to break the deadlock with a goal from Lee Tuck in the 40th minute after grabbing the ball that Hidalgo sent into the penalty box.
Kedah once again got a golden opportunity at the end of the first half to continue the attempt by Kedah captain, Manuel Ott, but his attempt was successfully pushed out by Sabah FC goalkeeper, Damien Lim and the position was tied until the wisel blew the first half of the first period.
Back with the action of the second half, Kedah continued to double the attack and after guarding the resistance more, Sang Kenari finally managed to add a goal through Lee Tuck’s second net in the 71st minute which knocked the ball from a header that was not quite packed by the Sabah FC defense.
Substitute Sabah FC, Jaffri Firdaus Chew had a chance at the end of the second half but his attempt was successfully caught by Ifwat Akmal to save Kedah’s goal.
The 2-1 position lasted until the end of the second half saw Kedah bring home three points.
