Kuala Lumpur City made a surprised by keeping 3 points at home after beating Selangor FC scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
Selangor initially dominated the match, but their goal came under threat in the 14th minute when Zhafri Yahya’s header was expertly deflected by goalkeeper Samuel Somerville.
Despite mounting pressure, Selangor’s best attempt came in the 35th minute with a shot from Alvin Fortes, which was successfully saved by KL City’s goalkeeper, Azri Ghani.
The Red Giants, who were last season’s Super League runners-up and entered the match as favorites, were stunned by a close-range goal from KL City midfielder Jovan Motika in the 63rd minute.
This goal proved to be decisive, as Selangor failed to find an equalizer by the end of the match, giving KL City a crucial win.

For Selangor, the defeat ended their streak of clean wins in the last three matches, and they now find themselves six points behind league leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim under the management of Nidzam Jamil.
