Kuching City missed the opportunity to strengthen their grip on second place in the Liga Super standings after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kuala Lumpur City FC at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
The visitors struck first in the 31st minute when Ronald Ngah Wanja calmly finished off a well-weighted assist from Ramadhan Saifullah Usman, giving Kuching City the lead and control of the match heading towards the interval.
However, KL City showed resilience at home. Just before the halftime whistle, Safawi Rasid rose to the occasion, netting the equaliser at the end of the first half to restore parity and reignite the contest.
Despite both teams pushing for a decisive goal after the break, neither side managed to find a breakthrough. Defensive discipline and missed opportunities ensured the scoreline remained unchanged until full time, forcing both teams to settle for a share of the spoils.
The result saw both sides move to 25 points, but Kuching City remain second courtesy of a superior goal difference, while KL City stay firmly in contention just behind them.
KL City FC will next host Imigresen FC at home as they look to climb further up the table, while Kuching City FC face a tough away test against Kelantan The Real Warriors in their upcoming fixture.
