Kuala Lumpur City compounded PDRM FC’s woes with a 2-1 victory in their Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at KLFA Stadium, Cheras.
The defeat added to PDRM’s heartbreak, coming just four days after their loss to Selangor FC in the Challenge Cup final, where they failed to defend the title they won last season.
KL City displayed a dominant performance and took the lead in the 23rd minute through captain Paulo Josue, who unleashed a powerful strike from outside the penalty box, leaving the PDRM goalkeeper helpless.
The City Boys doubled their advantage in the 50th minute when young forward Haqimi Azim Rosli capitalized on a defensive error by Amir Saiful Badeli, who failed to clear the ball from danger, allowing Haqimi to slot home confidently.
PDRM managed to pull one back in injury time through Nigerian midfielder Chidi Emma, but it proved too little too late as KL City held on for the win.
The victory sees KL City climb to sixth place in the standings with 25 points after 20 matches, while PDRM, who have played one game less, remain in eighth place with 21 points.
