Kuala Lumpur City pick up the victory in the last match of first leg after beating Sri Pahang FC with a score of 2-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Darul Makmur Stadium, Kuantan.
In that match, KL City did not wait long to rip open the host’s goal as a result of the explosion of the imported striker, Tchetche Kipre as early as the 5th minute.
The net was obtained from a trickle from outside the penalty box by Kipre who managed to beat Tok Gajah’s goal keeper, Izham Tarmizi Roslan.
After two minutes, Sri Pahang striker, Kpah Sherman almost equalized but his rebound was slightly lost to the right of the goal.
Import defense, Stefano Brundo managed to score Sri Pahang’s equalizing goal after his header killed the opposing goalkeeper, Muhammad Azim Al Amin Kamaruddin, but the match referee, Razlan Joffri Ali, was canceled due to offside.
The hosts finally managed to equalize through Brundo’s penalty kick in the 57th minute after Muhammad Azim brought down midfielder Baqiuddin.
KL City captain, Paulo Josue emerged as the hero of City Boys when he scored the winning goal following a free kick in the 75th minute.
In this match, Sri Pahang FC was stopped record undefeated in the home match of this season and also lost the second match in a row after losing to Johor Darul Ta’zim 0-2 on 24 May.
