Kedah Darul Aman, earned 3 points after beating Kelantan Darul Aman scoring 1-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2024/25 at Darul Aman Stadium, Alor Setar.
This action was initially scheduled to take place at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium , but because the venue upgrade process was not yet complete, the match was moved to the Darul Aman Stadium.
The home side took control early, and by the 17th minute, Fayadh Zulkifli found the back of the net with a composed finish following a brilliant assist. The goal stunned Kelantan DN, who struggled to regain their footing in the first half. Despite several promising runs by Fazrul Amir on the left wing, Kelantan’s offensive efforts, including Syahir Ab. Rashid’s attempt, fell short.
The first half ended with Kedah leading 1-0, maintaining their dominance in possession and dictating the tempo of the game.
Kedah continued to dominate after the break, employing quick ball movement and maintaining control through short passes. Kelantan, struggling to match Kedah’s intensity, found themselves defending deep in their half for most of the second period.
Kelantan head coach Victor Andrag introduced attacking reinforcements, bringing on Ebenizer Assifuah and Syafiq Ahmad to bolster their offense. Despite their efforts, Kelantan failed to penetrate Kedah’s resolute defense, led by the experienced Milos Gordic.
The victory boosts Kedah to 6th place on the Super League table with 20 points, while Kelantan DN remains in 12th position with just 7 points. This marks Kedah’s fourth consecutive victory, further solidifying their upward trajectory this season.
Kedah will now shift their focus to the MFL Challenge Cup match against PDRM on January 18, while Kelantan DN gets a short break before taking on Perak on January 26.
Kelantan’s recent struggles—failing to secure a win in their last 9 matches—highlight the uphill battle they face to climb out of the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Kedah looks to maintain their momentum as they aim for a stronger finish in the second half of the season.
