Johor Darul Ta’zim delivered a commanding reminder of their domestic dominance after dismantling Kuala Lumpur City FC 4-0 to end the hosts’ unbeaten run in the Liga Super 2025/26 at the KLFA Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.
Fielding Syihan Hazmi in goal, Afiq Fazail as captain and Jairo da Silva spearheading the attack, the Southern Tigers showcased their depth, composure and attacking efficiency in a performance that left KL City chasing shadows for large periods of the contest.
KL City, with Quincy Kammeraad between the posts and attacking duo Kpah Sherman and Safawi Rasid up front, showed early intent and briefly matched JDT’s intensity.
Safawi came closest for the home side with a threatening free-kick, but his effort drifted wide — a missed opportunity that would soon be punished.
JDT seized control in the 28th minute when centre-back Antonio Glauder rose to open the scoring, setting the tone for a ruthless spell from the visitors.
The pressure told again soon after as Manuel Hidalgo capitalised on a costly error by Kammeraad, doubling JDT’s lead and deflating the home crowd.
Any hopes of a KL City response were extinguished in first-half stoppage time when Jairo da Silva finished clinically to make it 3-0 at the interval — a scoreline that reflected JDT’s authority.
JDT continued to dominate after the restart, monopolising possession and creating a steady stream of chances, while KL City found Syihan Hazmi in inspired form, the national goalkeeper denying everything that came his way.
The decisive moment arrived when Oscar Arribas unleashed a thunderous long-range strike to make it 4-0, effectively sealing the contest and silencing the home support.
Despite a late effort from Ryan Lambert, KL City were unable to find a consolation goal as JDT saw out the match with professional control.
The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 4-0 away victory, ending KL City’s unbeaten streak and sending a clear message to the rest of the league — JDT remain the benchmark in the Liga Super.
