Johor Darul Ta’Zim still secure invincible record after beat Selangor FC with a score of 2-0 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2023 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
High-intensity action by both teams as well as the start of the match which saw JDT more often than not take control of the game and almost broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Muniz’s looping ball forced goalkeeper Samuel Sommerville to clear the ball out.
JDT missed the opportunity to score a goal in the 24th minute after the movement started by Arif Aiman acted quickly to feed the ball to Akhyar Rashid but he was disappointing when he caught a weak ball and caught Sommerville.
Selangor seemed reluctant to give in, instead acting to counterattack in the 32nd minute, but Mukhairi Ajmal’s successful effort to escape Matthew Davies’ control had crossed the ball but the goalkeeper, Syihan Hazmi was willing to catch the ball neatly.
Throughout the first half, even though JDT controlled the resistance, they still failed to rip the Selangor’s goal, which often acted to curb JDT when Selangor used tactics in a compact manner in the middle and defense.
Continuing the second half, Solari stepped in to bring on Heberty Fernandes to strengthen the attack wheel but the Heberty was still unable to cause concern for the Selangor stronghold.
After crashing hard to find a net, he finally paid off in the 78th minute when the ball was kicked by a substitute player, Oscar Arribas watched Heberty Fernandes act handsomely and then beat Sommerville.
As the action entered the final minutes of the match, Bergson scored a penalty to ensure a 2-0 victory for the Johor Darul Ta’Zim and the position was held until the end of the match.
